Math:

As you know, Illustrative Math is the Upper School math curriculum program. When selecting supplemental summer work, we chose IXL, an online math program, because it aligns directly with the Illustrative Math lessons taught throughout the school year. This program provides students with opportunities to practice important math skills at their own pace.

  • Login information and directions on how to access IXL were shared with students in math class. If you have any questions or need assistance accessing the program, please do not hesitate to contact Jennine
  • Click here to log into IXL. Sign in with Google and use your City and Country account. Remember, students must be logged in to track and register their progress.
  • Once you are logged in, click on "Learning" at the top, then go to "Math Skills". Click on the grade level you just completed and work A to Z on the highlighted skills that are assigned.
  • Students received access to the grade-level anchor standards they just completed. If a student answers a question incorrectly, IXL provides immediate, step-by-step explanations and links to instructional videos to help them learn from their mistakes. The program will give a “SmartScore” to show the level of proficiency. Students will need to reach a score of 80 before they are able to move on to the next skill.
  • Students should use paper and pencil to complete problems and not treat this as mental math, nor use their calculator when working on IXL.
